Definitions

"Creativity, it has been said, consists largely of re-arranging what we know in order to find out what we do not know." George Kneller

It is an "Assumptions breaking process". Many creative ideas are generated when somebody discards preconceived assumptions and decides on a new approach or method that might seem to others unthinkable.

The root of the word in English and most other European languages comes from the Latin creatus, literally "to have grown."
